Casa
Napoli
For the couple with a sense of humour. Enormous replicas
of ancient Roman statues adorn this place. Reserve La Grotto - a
table for two in a cave - for an absolutely kitschy, but private,
Italian affair. 6728 St. Laurent, 514/274-435 1
Laloux
For the French kissers. Dubbed "Paris on Pine,"
the setting couldn't be more gorgeous and you will feel absolutely
gorgeous. Andre Besson's nouvelle cuisine is just as sophisticated
- foie gras, scallop mousse, salmon and caviar potato crepe. Share
Le Grand Dessert, a sampling from the sweet menu. With a wine list
to match. 250 Pine E., 514/287-9727
Le Lutétia
For the lush-ious couple. Begin with Happy Hour in
the hotel's sumptuous lobby – crystal chandeliers, a fountain,
a baby grand. Afterwards, Eric Gonzalez’s sumptuous nouvelle
cuisine awaits you in Le Lutétia's positively baroque setting
of cherub frescoes and upholstered tapestry. A must: pressed duck,
the house specialty. Exemplary wine list. Hotel de la Montagne, 1430 de to Montagne, 514/288-5656
Maiko Sushi
For the geisha in you. Subdued blue and salmon décor
with a ceremonial kimono adorning one wall. A series of interlocking
dining rooms plus one tatami room and a sushi bar. Fine tempura
and Japanese specialties. Draft sake and Japanese beer. 387 Bernard Ave. W, 5741490-7225
Le Petit Moulinsart
For romantics who don't wanna grow up. Characters
from the French comic strip Tintin decorate this Belgian bistro.
Have your brewski – the lively bar offers some 150 brands
- with moules et frites (mussels and fries). 139 St. Paul W, 574/843-7432
Ristorante Da
Vinci
For the "he's into sports and she's not"
couples. This is where the Habs dine after home games. So the guy
gets to check out the Canadiens memorabilia. And the girl? She gets
to enjoy a cozy dinner with her big guy at the reserved table by
the fireplace or the corner one overlooking the garden. On the menu:
fresh oysters, risotto, gnocchi. Excellent Italian wine list.
1180 Bishop, 514/874-2001
